Day 6: Traditional Korean Instruments


My roomies and I in our complimentary raincoats awaiting to walk to the gym in the pouring rain for our class. Are we angles or squids? No one knows!


Today was by far the best lecture, yet it should be called an event. First, we watched a performance by a university group of students and then we learned how to play 2 different styles of drums and the symbols. We were also taught a traditional dance with hand movements. There is no picture because I was horrible. I had the beat, the footwork but I could not figure out what to do with my hands...

Well I am not going to quite my day job but it was a wonderful experience. Almost like in "Ghost" except the potter (? pottery maker) was not standing behind me, but there was hand touching. Day 2: Continued

After the opening ceremony (where I found out I have to write term papers) we headed out for shopping at the local Korean TESCO. I pondered purchasing a local delicacy of SPAM but opted for a picture instead. We then headed out for a little Korean fast food dining; I am still not sure what I ate. On the way back to the dorm I saw a group of boys playing, not soccer, basketball or any other outside sport but boys crowded around playing video games on the street.
